Nobel Prize Dialogue in Seoul

I attended the Nobel Prize Dialogue in Seoul on 24 September alongside several Nobel Prize laureates and significant South Korean academics. It was titled “Future Learning: Exploring Science and Technology”.

This event started with the question what is the purpose of education, and then went on to explore what do we need to know, is there an optimal balance between fundamental and applied knowledge, how does education differ around the world today and should we be adapting learning to meet future needs?

We also discussed how technology is changing both the practice and focus of education and what does the rapidly developing relationship between artificial intelligence and education mean for the way we will learn in the future, and do the demands placed on us by the technologies that surround us threaten to undermine our ability to learn.
