Live stream from Superintendents Roundtable Oct 5

Thanks to New York University, the Roundtable’s meeting agenda on Saturday, October 5 will be available, from start to finish, via video-streaming.
 
New York University’s Washington DC facility and the John Brademas Center for the Study of Congress have established a webpage publicizing the meeting on “Education in Europe.” On the webpage is a link (WATCH NOW) that will permit anyone with internet access to watch the proceedings on their computer. Education in France – Keynote

François Weil, Recteur, l’académie de Paris and the Sorbonne offers keynote address on education in France.

10:15 am – 12:00 pm

Panel on Education in England 

Sue Hackman, Director, School Standards Group, Department of Education will describe the Cameron government’s commitment to choice and traditionalism in English schools.


School entrepreneur Sir Peter Birkett will focus on efforts to inject “business dna” into public services and encourage the public and private sectors to improve school quality.

Education in Finland

Dr. Pasi Sahlberg, director, CIMO, Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture (an agency designed to encourage international cooperation and mobility) and author of Finnish Lessons, will describe a two-part strategy to encourage equity in schools and the broader society and their contribution to Finland’s remarkable education success, as demonstrated by consistently high scores on the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Reign of Error 

Diana Ravitch, research professor of education at New York University and an historian of education, will discuss her latest book Reign of Error (September 2013).
