Happy New Year 2015

Last year marked another busy year in terms of visitors on this website: Over 200,000 visitors and nearly 3 million hits during 2014. Thank you all for that. I will do my best to manage this site so that the most recent material related to Finnish Lessons 2.0 would be available for you. You will also find all presentations that I make this year posted under “Finnish Lessons” manu as before.

As far as my work is concerned I will continue teaching at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education this year. Spring semester course is “The Teaching Profession Around the World” and in the fall I teach “International Lessons from Successful Education Systems”. Both of these courses can be followed in Twitter using hashtags #HGSEa317 and #HGSEat103, respectively. We are looking for more ways to link the world to these classes. More about that later. Short interview in our Harvard Ed Magazine is here.

I am particularly happy that the second, updated and expanded edition of Finnish Lessons is available today. Finnish Lessons 2.0 provides an up-to-date picture of education in Finland and aims to enrich the conversation about how to build more equitable and better performing school systems around the world. I am honoured to have Andy Hargreaves, Diane Ravitch and Sir Ken Robinson sharing their thoughts about my work as forewords and afterwords in this book. Publisher’s information about Finnish Lessons 2.0 is here.

With this I want to wish you very Happy New Year 2015 and hope that this year will bring us closer to social justice, peace among us people, and respecting Mother Earth.

Pasi
